Day 2: (Ab)normal Days

Judas thinks really hard on Martin's question. "Martin ... you're right, but you shouldn't say it like that, because then I look like a dumbass. Which I'm not. I got, like, the highest score on the PSAT in my entire class, you know."

He rolls his eyes. "Well if being on watch is the only way I can get out of my room at night, you can add me to the volunteer list."

Isaac looked up at Jacob with a sad expression and gave a small wave, deciding to follow after them. He put on a little smile as he looked at Lisa, introducing himself via the front of his notebook which had "ISAAC" scrawled over it in paint.

"Uh, four people... Well, uh, I think it's a good number to work with, sure," he said, with slight trepidation in his voice.

Patrick nervously looked around. "I'll join the watch group, but, uh, count me out of roleplay. There was something I wanted to look into and I don't think I'll have the time to do more than that."

Antoine shrugged as conversation shifted.

"So Dark," he looked up to him, "I don't know about you, but I've lost my appetite."

Claire raised her eyebrows at Lux's enthusiasm. "I dunno, rock 'n' roll seems like it could use a nap every once in a while."

"Aaaand some adderall," she added under her breath. "That said, I'd love to help with this watch idea. I have no issue with us sticking to groups. I just don't want anyone roaming around by themselves."

"Is there anything else to sort out? Otherwise, I'd like to catch up on sleep and be ready for the night."

"I do mean Dungeons and Dragons, yes! I found my AD&D books in my room last night, and I figured if we can find some pencils and papers we can get something going."

Ariel started to walk out the door. "See you guys at the library!"

Rachel stared around the room quietly (for once in her life) as Cobalt and co. talked. After taking a deep breath, she smiled at the crowd around her.

"I wanna help out too. Last night I was super scared about everything, but hearing you guys be so certain that we can get through this ... you're all right! I know it! We can take care of each other for sure!"

"NEVER sleeps!" Lux corrected Claire. When Judas and Rachel came through, they pounced on them, taking an arm around each.

"You can count on us! We'll fuck up anyone who tries to do bad round here!"

"I'd volunteer for the watch, but" Jordan held up her coffee, "Already pulled an all-nighter. I'll join the watch later, having someone half-asleep on the watch is a bad idea."
She seemed happy that Claire was turning around at least.

"This is excellent, we're taking steps to avoid anything unfortunate. Now if you don't mind, did someone mention D&D?"
That certainly piqued Jordan's interest and already she was following Ariel.

Rachel "eep'd" quietly as Lux grabbed her, but grinned brightly after a second and laughed. "Haha, yeah, for sure! We got this!"

Lisa smiled at him, opened her mouth to talk, closed it, frowned, and then smiled again. She held one palm out and traced out "L", "I", "S", "A" on it.

His only reaction to the hand on his arm was a quick eyeroll, but Lux's words pulled a small smirk out of him.

"Yeah. If we see anyone doing any dumb shit around here, we'll just kill'em dead, no problem." Very quickly after saying it, he raises his hands up in defense. "Kidding. Kidding!"

"Martin counted on his fingers, taking account of all the watch people, "OK, OK, so Claire, Judas...Wait-"

He noticed that people had already been leaving, "Dammit, People left before we finalized the plan. What's the point if not everyone knows!" He balled his hands into fists, watching as now even Ariel and Jordan were making their way out.

"Fine." He said, following them to the library.

"Glad some people are getting along here," Jake remarked, hitting the "Down" button. The three enjoyed a steady ride to the lower level, and the door opened shortly thereafter.

"Dunno bout y'all, but I was fixin to see if..." he trailed off, and then pulled up the map on his watch. He pointed to the Butler's Room, making sure Isaac could see.

"If that body was still here. Figured there might be some clues."

There was a resigned sigh from Jason.

"Count me out..." he mumbled, searching for a small spoon. "I'm not the type to do night watch stuff. I'd rather see what I can use in the storage rooms."

Lux glanced at the people still around them.

"What the fuck is D&D?"

"Nerd bullshit, Lux."

Cobalt watched the conversations form around him, shoulders slumping ever so slightly.

"Well then, if anyone needs me, feel free to... knock? I'll be in my room." He left with a surprising lack of fanfare, making a beeline to his room.

"It's a roleplay thing. A game. You make a charachter and roll die to see how their actions go. It's the chance and freedom people like." Jason shrugged, spooning yoghurt into his mouth.

"See?" He muttered. "Exactly what I said. Nerd bullshit."

"Anyway, looks like they're planning shit in the library for this night watch thing. We gonna skip over there arms linked like in the Wizard of Oz or what?"

Martin walked down the hallway muttering.
"Can't believe we're playing Dragons and Dungeons..."

Dark blinked down at Antoine. "I always am hunger. But I understand you meaning."

"We can leave." Dark made his way out into the hallway.

For the first time since waking up, Cobalt entered his room. At this point his motions became more automatic than anything else: He set his mask down on the first surface in his path, crawled onto the bed, and sobbed.

Lux linked their arm into Judas's and gave him a toothy grin.

"Obviously." Then they took off skipping full speed down the hall and downstairs towards the library with Judas in tow.
