Day 1: Introductions

Dark listened intently to what Monobear was saying. He faced Jason McDorne to ask him a question. "American culture very... different. That is a school mascot?" he asked. "Why had it sayed headmaster?"

Finishing his second roll, Antoine rose from his chair.

"Now that's the first joke I've heard all day. A little what-two feet tall- bear threatening someone to stay for dessert." He began to walk towards the door.

Looking at Caleb, the bear grinned and spread its hands out. "You see all these different kinds of food? That many, except all filled with sugar and terrible for your insides." it nodded with authority, like it knew exactly what it was talking about.

Jason nearly bit his tongue when Dark addressed him.

"Oh? Uh..." He trailed off, "Most schools have mascots. Usually they're just drawings, sometimes people wear costumes of them. Either that's one short person, or it's mechanical... But I think it might be trying to be cute... even if it looks half disturbing..."

Jordan kept herself from smiling, despite finding the comment in good humor. "Aris Hanno, this table has quite a feast on it, wouldn't you agree?" Jordan took a salad bottle at random, not looking at the label. She added a bit too much.

Miranda managed to get a hold on her steak, cutting it into manageable square pieces and eating it with some string beans on the side, also cut precisely.

She was paying particular attention to Monobear. "I'd love to have something sweet. They're my favorite type of food!"

Cobalt layered bits of mashed potato over the gravy well, concealing the brown liquid within before grabbing his spoon and taking occasional bites.

"This food really is delicious! The chef must be fantastic!" he called after swallowing. With half of the potatoes still on the plate, he pushed it away.

Ruby turned her head to the people on either side of her, comfortable to just watch her fellow classmates eat and enjoy themselves.

Well...watch Dakota threaten a bear while stuffing a 4-inch thick choice cut in her mouth.

She called out as she noticed the comedian walking out.

"Oy! You like gettin' yourself into trouble, geni?"

Martin had his plate clearly organized. Perfectly cut potato one one side, with a photo-perfect square of butter melting ever so slightly. Sugar snap peas on the north side. Two rolls on a bread plate, also cut precisely and adorned with butter. He hardly had time to take a bite.

The only thing that could make this scene better was Antoine taking his leave. Martin let out a long sigh, a "Cheers," and bit into a roll.

Salad. Jordan managed to keep Aris' sticky fingers at bay for now.

"I'm pretty sure I ate most of it. I think I have a basis beyond conjecture that it's good food." She replied. "And testimonials that the food is good too."

She patted her stomach and pushed away her empty plate with a look of absolute bliss on her face. "Oh my god. Oh my god. I like this place. I can get used to this place." She checked her bowtie and the bow in her hair, making sure they hadn't fallen while she went berserk on her food, and resolved to simply tighten the bowtie and leave the hairtie be.

"Mmmmm." she hummed, pouring herself some water and sipping at it.

Antoine looked over his shoulder towards the others.

"Ah, come on! I just choose not to ruin my body with junk food. I believe we all simply got off on the wrong foot, so it's best I leave for a bit, and we can all chat later. Besides, more for you lovely ladies then, right? I'll see ya later, Miranda." He waved, passing by Monobear's chair.

Jaden finished his chicken and bread in no time. For a while he busied himself by scratching at his plate with his fork. He looked very bored, and spoke up after a moment.

"So uh... Dessert anyone?" He raised his hands up in a shrugging motion and made a funny expression. "I could really go for a frosted cake or something."

Jordan glanced at Aris's plate, "I can take your word for it." She took a bite of the salad and winced, she hated Thousand Island dressing.

If Caleb had a glass of wine, he would have gladly toasted with Martin.

"Oh, I do hope there's some chocolate," Caleb said gleefully, wondering if anyone besides himself and Miranda shared a love of sweets.

The bear sighed, stood up and walked over to Antoine. It walked in front of the door. It smiled at him.

"You're not funny, either, are you? Quite dull. it shook it's head. "I don't want to use force this early. But I'm going to have to ask you to sit down, or face the consequences of disobeying your headmaster. And you won't like those at all, upupupu..."

It turned around to face the door and locked it tight. "Look, see? Now go sit down, and wait for dinner." It grinned, raising a claw. "Or else."

"HA!" Aris declared, slapping her table so hard her glass nearly fell over. "You looked away!"

She was completely oblivious to everything else going on.

Antoine placed a hand in his pocket.

"Pretty sure it's against the law to threaten a student with violence! For what I'm gonna guess is the first 'bear headmaster', you're doing a pretty bad job!" He leaned forward, looking Monobear in the eyes.

Ruby stared at the ongoing scene between the bear and the asshole from Comedy Central. She'd felt this vibe before, all too familiar. It had happened dozens of times before at the club. Some cocky dude who'd had one too many tempting fate with the bouncer. It never ended well.

Miranda tapped her mouth with the napkin, watching Antoine's scene with monobear. She looked over at Jaden when he spoke.

"I second that!" She said, laughing, "Some dessert would be lovely! But after everyone finishes."

Lisa frowned.

"Jerk deserves a detention or something," she mumbled, crossing her arms across her chest.

Jordan blinked at Aris's outburst, "I did what?" she paused, and then remembered, "I guess I lost that round." She turned down to look at her soup of a salad, "But next round..." The scene with monobear caught her attention.

Aris followed Jordan's eyes, blinking only after she said she lost.

"Hey! You breakin rules over there?" She called out, "Wanna see how fast ya get yer foot shoved up yer pretty little ass?"

She laughed.

The bear sighed. "Why doesn't anyone ever listen to me? I'm just a bear. Come on, now. Go sit down so I can explain my joke. You can even use it sometime!" he added, pushing Antoine back to his seat forcefully.

"Maybe you'll be worthy of your title then!" he finished with a laugh.

Dark tried to concentrate on what Monobear was saying, but the bear's funny voice made it hard for him to understand. "What happening?" he asked Jason. "I cannot understand our mascot."
