Day 2: (Ab)normal Days

"Nnnnnope, I'll pass on the nerd stuff. I'm gonna head to the billiards room. If anyone wants to get their ass kicked at darts, join me!"

With that, he turned on a dime and left the Library.

Lisa nodded and began searching through the dresser.

"There's no clothes in here.  I'll keep poking around, though.  This is all kinda ridiculous, who's to rule out a hidden compartment?  Or Narnia.  Wouldn't mind running away to Narnia right about now."

Lisa Field, roll 1d20.

Isaac grunted as a paper was shoved into him, seemingly upset over the disrespect to paper.
"Gross." He signed, before turning to Jake. He normally didn't take orders, but he wasn't going to complain when the alternative was getting any closer to the body. It was much worse than yesterday, but at least he wasn't freaking out.

He went into the bathroom, inspecting any cabinets and the shower.

"TEAMWORK!" Lux shouted. "Now..." They grinned widely at all the people around them.

"What the fuck are we doing?"

"Nah, they tasted always like brownie batter to me. It's a real childhood taste- me and my bro used to scarf them all the time!"

He immediately started to look in the boxes- seeing if he could find anything he could work with to make jewelry. And food, that would be a plus. Anything he found would be put on the floor, near his feet.

"Teamwork!" Martin was into the teamwork shout in the heat of the moment, but as the hands dissipated he seemed uncertain again.

"Alright, I'll stay for whatever this fantasy roleplay is. Hopefully it's not as disgusting as it sounds."

"It's a purely platonic game, Martin," explained Jordan, pushing her glasses up in preparation for what would surely be the nerdiest hour of their life. They also turned to Lux, who seemed equally clueless.

"Dungeons and Dragons is a collaborative game involving chance, stats and group storytelling. The DM describes the situation and the players say what their characters do. You roll dice and add stats to determine the outcome. I personally play as a half elf cleric with my group, but I've wanted to DM for ages, I'm particularly fond of 3rd edition..."

She trailed off, realizing she might've lost the people she was trying to explain the game to.
"Sorry that you had to find out this way that I'm a big nerd. I know it must be a shock."

Lux cocked a lopsided smile at Jordan's heavy explanation, snickering. Then they cupped their hands around their mouth.

"NEEEEEERD," they proclaimed in their best middle school boy intonation, followed by another laugh.

"Good ta know! Our guitarist is really into comics and video games, so that's all I got." They paused for a moment, recollecting.

"I've played uh...Skyrim, before? Don't remember the story, but I liked burning shit! Haha!"

Ariel cracked her knuckles. "Anyone interested can meet me in the den," she began.

"Jordan, you're going to find that AD&D is cruel and unforgiving compared to 3.5. But, you'll like how I do it. Trust me." Ariel gave what seemed to be the most evil smirk. "Now, I'd recommend that as a Half-Elf you consider dual-classing to wizard or fighter, or even dual-class as all three. Being able to dual class is the only advantage you get over humans."

"Now, newbies, let me think for a sec..."

She first looked at Martin. "I see yourself as a Ranger - a guardian of the natural world. If you don't make the rolls for it I'll just fix your stats up to meet the minimum."

"And, Lux... Being a wizard in this sort of game usually requires some, er, how do you say... Tact? You only get one or two spells a day at first, you're not going to run around and burn everything you see. I would think a fighter is more your type, but if you really need that magical affinity perhaps you can dual-class as well."

Avery arrived a full minute before Miranda did, and busted in with all of the finesse of a landmine explosion. He slammed into the door, half shoving it open with his body and half trying to open it. He knocked into the other door for good measure.

He looked slightly disheveled and seemed to be snapping his head at the smallest sounds. Caffeine high engaged. "Are we DnD?" He immediately spat out, almost tripping over his words.

Martin listened to Jordan and Ariel's explanation, "I don't get half the words you just said, but OK." He thought for a moment, "Actually it doesn't sound unlike some of the games we play when camping...And I do like the sound of being a ranger. I'll have you know I know a lot about nature-"

Any hope Martin may have had of enjoying this were soon shattered as Avery barged in with the subtlety of a clown on fire. And Martin stared as though that were really the case.
"No. We are talking about calculus. Leave." The boy scout said, scowling.

Jordan seemed a bit jarred at first by Lux's teasing, gritting her teeth a bit, but quickly pulled on a smile.
"We all have huge nerds in our lives, you just can't get away from us. I'm just relieved that you've played a video game once, how else would I relate?" She joked, "Personally I would put cabbages into the pockets of NPC. Make sure they had a snack, y'know?"

Turning to Ariel she seemed surprised, "Dual classing into three different classes? Can't say I attempted that. If you let me keep my character alive long enough perhaps I'll do that."
As for the Avery and Martin situation; she wasn't about to get involved in that just yet.

Isaac's heart pounded in his chest as he went to investigate the Butler's bathroom. He expected the worst; a bloody blade or maybe some other severed body part. He opened cabinets - nothing. Then the shower - still nothing. He assumed the toilet wouldn't need as thorough a search, and didn't have a desire to do so.

He looked up at the mirror and sighed before readjusting his hair. He was in no rush to the room with the body, so he decided to stay, leaning on the sink.
"Fuck all of this." He signed to his reflection, thinking about all that occurred in the past two days, "What's even the fucking point if we're all just waiting around to get murdered? After they already destroyed our lives? Stupid fucking bear, he'd be better off as a rug."
Even if it seemed silly, signing to himself in the mirror had a few advantages; namely no one could overhear him. It was just a little disorienting to see his own words backwards.

Jake was deft as he ran his hands through the suit pockets, praying for some type of clue as to what the hell was going on. After a few minutes, it became clear that he wouldn't be finding anything on the butler's person...or what was left of it, anyway.

He stood up with a sigh, suppressing the urge to run a hand through his hair. That would have to wait until after they'd had a solid wash in the sink. With hot water.

Not wanting to lose a shred of hope, he found himself over by the dresser.

"Any luck?"
