Day 1: Introduction

19 teenagers wake up in what looks like a classroom.  They sit in alphabetical order.  Each has a small bracelet with a screen on their wrist.  Scrawled across the blackboard is the message:

Welcome to your class retreat!  Go ahead and introduce yourselves, then explore to your little hearts' content!

Avery woke up like he had a hangover. He first started to groan, then opened his eyes, immediately closing his eyes again. It took him a good few seconds to finally get used to the light enough to finally take a look around the room.

"Who the hell is this?" He remarked on Issac sitting next to him, "And what the fuck does that mean," he looked over to the blackboard.

Since he wasn't glued to the seat, it meant he had free reign of the place. There were other people with him, and when Avery stood up he took mental inventory. But there was chalk, so he could already see where he was going with this.

In a stint of maturity only a teenage boy would do, he immediately drew the fattest dick he could, the text on the board spurting out of it.

Classy.

Isaac was slowly roused from his drowsiness, feeling a little sick. This felt…off, somehow.
He saw someone walk up to the blackboard and draw a giant-
Right. This was a public school thing, wasn’t it?

He waited a few moments, not noticing Avery's comment. When no one else did anything, he got up and crossed the room. When he did the emblem on his back suddenly became clear. A skull painted over a red splatter. Edgy.

He took a piece of chalk from under the chalkboard and swiftly scribbled up a message that was clear only when he turned around.

First, he added some much-needed anatomical edits to Avery’s drawing. Next to that he added a stylized skull and his name “Isaac Arkwright”, with a little arrow pointing to where he stood. Standing next to the arrow, he did an awkward bow and quickly walked back to his seat.

Sitting down he gave a sigh, trying to hide his shaky hands.

Jason blinked at the two brave enough to make introductions before him. After choosing not to comment on ... that weird goth-looking kid's artwork ... ? ... he nodded to Isaac as he bows, a soft smile on his face. "Nice art!" he said cheerily. He cleared his throat and took a deep breath, facing back to the rest of the people gathered.

"Um -- I think I'll go for a more traditional introduction, if that's alright." He stood up and sat on top his desk, planting his feet on his chair and turning to face the rest of the classroom. He clapped his hands together, maybe a bit too loudly.

"Hey, everyone -- my name's Jason! Uh, Jason Brant -- since that says 'class retreat', uh, this must be my class, so ... I'm a Super High School Level Jack of all Trades."

He slumped a bit as he spoke his title, playing with the bands on his wrists as he continued to speak.

"If you live around the city, you might have heard of me … otherwise, probably not … uh, either way, I'm pretty a-OK at everything! Not the best, but not the worst, either." A small smile rose on face. "It's nice to meet you all! I hope we can all be friends."

Martin woke with a start, the moment he began to hear voices. As he realized where he was, he became shocked; He fell asleep in a classroom?
He listened to Jason talk, nodding along and trying to look alert.
But the moment Jason walked back to his seat, Martin saw the disaster that was the chalkboard.

“Disgusting.” Martin growled, marching to the front of the room and erasing the entire thing, “Be lucky a teacher didn’t come in.”
After struggling with a particularly stubborn smudge, Martin turned around and introduced himself, not noticing a slight chalk smear on his hands.
“I am Martin Janesh Crane, student council representative. I hope to have an enjoyable and appropriate school retreat with you all. Thank you.”
Martin put down the eraser and walked back to his seat, smiling at Jason; as far as he knew Jason was the only reasonable, non-dick-drawing person here.

Antoine rubbed his forehead before swiping his bangs to the side.  He eyed the others around him, then the blackboard, before letting out a sigh and a sly smile.  Standing, he turned to face the others.

“Antoine Duvall, Super High School Level Comedian.  Someone who knows how to make a real joke.”  He bowed with a wink.  “And, for the record, someone who knows how to treat a lady right.”
 
After sitting and adjusting his chair he huffed.  “Seriously, though.  That wasn’t very funny.”    He crossed his legs, muttering bitterly under his breath.

“Honestly.  I thought this whole ‘Super High School Level’ thing was for the elite.  This is absurd.”

Lisa fidgeted with her hands while the blackboard shenanigans unfolded, lips drawn in a line. She smiled at Martin when he erased it. When Antoine finished she took it as her turn, looking around to the others.

“Lisa Field,” she patted the wheelchair next to her, “Super High School Level Wheelchair Racer. I don’t really get what’s going on, but I hope we can all get along! Especially since it sounds like we’ll be spending some time together.” She rubbed the back of her neck, looking more toward the floor.

“And with that in mind, can we maybe chill on the whole… y’know… penis thing? So that that doesn’t become a running thing?” She shrugged a bit on the last remark.

Jordan watched the proceedings with a mona lisa smile. It seemed like her turn had come.

She walked up, and turned to the mini-crowd, observing all of the other students with a watchful eye.
“I’m Jordan Grey, hypnotist. Nice to meet all of you.”
Her mouth twitched into a smile. ” And I agree with Lisa, it was a bit of a dick move.”

With that she walked back to her seat, to watch the rest of the introductions intensely.

Rachel was positively jumping with excitement as the metaphorical introduction torch is passed off to her. She loudly cleared her throat and mimicked playing with a headset mic. "Is this thing on?" she muttered " - oh, it is! Great!"

She walked up to the front of the room and took a sharp bow, waving once. Her voice was loud and clear as she spoke, going through an introduction that clearly had been rehearsed. "Helloooo, everyone! Rachel here! I'm your local, lovable, adorable, Super High School Leveeeeeel Coloooooor Comentaaaatoooooor!"

She paused for a few seconds, than winked, her voice lowering to an acceptable tone. "For the uninitiated, it means I root for the bad guys. In sports, I mean!"

An extravagant bow was offered to her classmates. "It's a pleasure to meet you all!"

With that, she walked back - half-skipped, really - and sat back down in her seat.

“Oh, shoot, is it my turn? Got a bit distracted there, sorry.”

Patrick perked his head away from the strange watch-like apparatus he’d been focusing on since he woke up. “Anyone figure how to turn this stupid thing on?” he asked, slapping the sides of the gadget with his left hand. “Questions like ‘how do I turn it on?’ and ‘how do I take it off of me?’ should be self explanatory to a user unless you want them to feel like a prisoner to your brand. And this is a class retreat, right? We shouldn’t BE in a prison. If the manufacturers didn’t even bother to think about that, I really don’t want to see their idea of a GUI if we ever figure out how to turn this on. And don’t get me started on how uncomfortable this metal-with-leather-under-it band is - barely can feel my wrist.”

After a brief moment of painfully stale silence, he cleared his throat. “Sorry, ranting, no one cares…” He raised his arms as though he was surrendering, giving up on his trivial critique of a watch that was obviously not designed to be sold. “I’m Patrick LaMonte, but Pat’s fine too. I got here because I’m pretty good at User Experience stuff, but I dabble a little bit in web and app dev. They made my Super High School Level ‘UX Designer’ but that barely scratches the surface.” A bit more relaxed, he glanced towards the chalkboard and paused for a moment. “Now, look. I don’t really care what you guys do on the chalkboard - let’s just introduce each other and get this over with so we can do whatever we have to next.”

Lux spent the entirety of Patrick's introduction staring at him with sparkling eyes and a wide grin, not comprehending a single thing he said. The moment he finished, they jumped up on their chair and pulled an imaginary microphone to their lips.

"HOW THE FUCK IS EVERYONE DOIN' TONIIIIIIIGHT?!" they shouted in a voice that was clearly intended for an arena of ten thousand rather than a classroom of nineteen. Nevertheless, that didn't stop them from hunching down to the table's surface and carrying on. "My name's Lux Liddane and I'm your one and only Super! High School! Level! ROCKSTAAAAARRR!"

They finally stood up and released their imaginary microphone, still on the table. "For those who've never seen me, I'm the lead singer of fLux, a rock band I formed with my best mates from Detroit! We just finished our first world tour, and I'm stoked to be back in the states and with all of you guys!"

They gave a wide fang toothed grin to all of the class before gesturing to the boy next to them with double "rock on" hands.

Jaden rested his arm on the back of his chair and faced the rest of the class. He seemed particularly put off by Lux's aggressive introduction. "I'm gonna need you to take it down 5 levels, please. Ok? Ok. So we really gonna sit here and draw dicks instead of talk about why we all woke up in a classroom with some kinda smart watches?” He raised his eyebrows and stared at the other kids in the room.

“Well if I’m stuck with y’all, might as well introduce myself. I’m Jaden. I dance. I’m pretty damn good at it, which yall should know cause I’m kinda famous. I was on Disney Channel for a while, jussayin.” He brushed his shoulder for emphasis. “So anyway, that’s over, and I ended up here.”

He leaned forward in his char. “But again, just askin’, where is here, and why are we here? Anyone? Aaaaanyone? No? Cool.” He leaned back into his chair with a sigh. “Whatever, whoever’s next, you're up."

Jason was still out for the moment. Seems like whatever had the poor teen asleep still held onto him firmly. He looked very comfortable in his desk, his face buried in his arms and an almost calm look on his face as he snoozed.

Though Rachel screamed loud enough to wake him up with a jolt. "Who died?" he squeaked, then growing quiet.

"Ah... what's going on?" He looked at he people lingering at the board- why was there a huge smudge on it? Hid mind caught up, though, and he cleared his throat, not really rising from his seat. Introductions?

"I'm Jason McDorne! I'm from LA, and I work at my dad's store. We make jewelry, and I honestly find it really relaxing..."

"But I don't really remember how I got here? Does anyone remember anything in like... the last week? Month?"

Dark stared in bewilderment at the other students collaborating to draw such lewd images on the chalkboard. “Bad,” he muttered. He nodded in approval when Martin erased it all. When it was his time to speak, he stood up. At 6’3 he towered over most of his classmates.

“Ok, me turn.” He turned around to face the class, but avoided eye contact with any of them. Instead he stared above their heads, and took a deep breath. “I am Dark ibn-Nakhti al-Aziz. I am from Cairo in country Egypt. I am Super School High… High School… Super Level…” His face turned red and he looked down at his feet. Then he furrowed his brows and looked back up. In an intense, gruff voice he continued.

“Assassin! Assassin my thing is. Happy meet you. I want to be many friends. Please excuse my talking..." Dark's voice got a little quieter. "English is my second language. I try to help you understand."

Jake cocked an eyebrow at Dark, his expression unchanging. So far, introductions ranged from typical to downright crazy. But he remained unfazed through all of them, save for a frown he gave at Avery's lack of art skills.

"I gotta agree with Jace and Jay," he started in a smooth, low voice. "Shit's crazy. Know where you are. And who you're with."

He stood up with a stretch and ran a hand through his hair. "Name's Jake. People spend time with me. And that's all you need to know." He sat down and leaned back in his chair with folded arms.

The punky brat stared around the classroom, eyes narrowed, with a tiny smirk on his face as he looks at everyone. His eyes didn't linger on anybody specific, inspecting the crowd with a neutral expression his face.

"Judas," he said. "Super High School Level Skateboarder. They took my board though, which kinda sucks."

He shrugged and casually threw his feet up on the desk, reclining back as comfortably as he can. As he did this, he revealed his most important character trait --

"Least they didn't take my heelys."

He turned to the person next to him. "Who're you?"

The class’s attention was then transfixed to a girl with her head planted directly onto the desk and her arms tightly holding onto it. She clearly didn’t hear Judas call to her and seemed to be nearly dead.

“Thank god. You all decided to shut up,” she said, muffled. In the silence, the other students noticed a horrible stench that could only come from the girl in a dirty graphic t-shirt and grey sweatpants. She rustled a bit in her seat. “If any of you are on caffeine, as SOME of you seem to be, please share that shit with me. I’m gonna die otherwise.” She stared directly at Rachel and Lux.

After another brief silence, Ariel realized she was supposed to introduce herself. She limply stood up, with her darkened, baggy eyes more visible to everyone. “I’m Ariel Sullivan. Super High School level Dungeon Master.” She paused, expecting a bit of laughter. “It’s a hell of a lot of work when you're as in demand as I am, so don’t give me those looks when I don’t have the time to do care about stupid things like how I smell or how I look like I’ve been awake for 48 hours.”

“I probably have been - but’s not like I keep track anymore.” She collapsed back into her seat and went back to sleep.

Miranda woke up without a word, and very quickly. Something seemed off to her, and worry quickly came onto her face, quickly looking around the room.

She seemed to have woken up after other people, though, and there was some activity happening. She politely clapped after successful introductions, though, the only sound really coming in between people talking. She at least had time to think of her words, especially after Jaden brought the topic to the forefront.

"I think most of us would want to talk about themselves now... I suppose our situation would have to wait til after that...?"

She tilted her head, "But I'm Miranda! And I'm cold. I can't seem to remember heads or tails of anything, really, so... sorry!"

Claire shook her head. “Well, phooey. I had wanted to be last.” She turned and glared at the next student playfully. “Oh well, can’t win all the time.” She gave a little smile. “But I usually do.”

Without another word she stood up and did a quick walk across the room, stopping every once in a while to do a quick shimmy and show off her outfit. She made sure to lock eyes and pay extra attention to Jacob as she passed his desk.

Eventually the pompous girl made her way back to her own desk and sat daintily atop it. “Claire Vilosi. I’m a Super High School Level Model. Can you tell?” She chuckled a bit and fiddled with her feather boa. “I'm very pleased to be here. You all seem very... pleasant." She turned to the next student once again.

"Alright, honey, I hope you've prepared a wonderful closing!"

Cobalt jumped up onto his chair.

"Of course! Never fear, everyone, for Cobalt, Super High School Level Superhero, is here!" He placed his hands on his hips and nodded before raising his fist into the air. "No matter what's going on, we can take it on together!" After a giving a moment to let his statement sink in, he hopped down.

"This situation is a bit perplexing, but don't worry! Nothing will happen to anyone so long as I can help it! I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you!"

The click of a lock coming undone rang out through the room, along with their watches lighting up with a floor map.

Avery was pretty incensed at Martin strolling up to erase his two second doodle, flopping onto the rolling chair and kicking over to the board.

"The dick. Stays." He hissed, still holding a piece of chalk. He had the power. He drew another, this one making him run the length of the board.

"It's running now!" Avery cackled, quit possible a bit late on his little pun as he drew tiny legs on the balls. "The dick is very important, see. Screw the rest of the shit. Lemme have my dick, god knows its all I'm getting lately."

Ariel soon felt that she had slept to the point where if she kept sleeping, she'd only feel worse. She slowly lifted her head up from her desk and started to study what the other students were doing. Her eyes then focused on Avery, whose drawing made made her snicker.

"Raise your dongers."

Lisa rolled her eyes and let out a huff.

"Please don't tell me this is what we're dealing with."

Patrick was taken aback by the watch turning on.

"That's strange - no one did anything, right?" He then started tapping on the screen. "As expected, unintuitive design. So I guess there's someone just controlling these watches." He sighed and looked around, eyeing what the other students want to do. "Anyone want to look for them? It's better than just... drawing dicks on the board."
