Day 1: Introductions

Antoine locked his fingers together behind his head, mumbling.

"I know what those days are like, too. Definitely not a fun thing to relive through story time."

Miranda cringed back at Jaden's response, more surprised than scared. "Ah god yeah forget I asked! Aaaa!" She crossed her arms at her shoulders, wiggling in her seat nervously.

She was more than happy to change the subject.

"Well, I suppose I would! So far it looks like I maybe do dance-y things?"

He looked at Martin and grinned. "Willing to put a lot on the line, huh? You better hope that door is locked." he walked up to it. "Here goes!" he said as he tried the door.

In spite of his minor aggravation, Caleb finally made it to his room at the end of the hall. He squinted his eyes at the little pixelated icon of his head.

"Huh. Does my hair really stick up like that?" he murmured to himself. It had always been a prominent feature in the various portraits commissioned of him, though he vehemently denied it.

He stared at the scanner for several minutes. Caleb was not the most enlightened when it came to technology.

As Jason tried the door Lisa looked at Martin.

"So, if you did lose all your badges, would that mean you just don't have your badges? Or would you be demoted and stuff? Because if so that sounds kinda harsh!" she asked, tilting her head.

The bedroom door is locked. Congratulations, Martin.

Dark furrowed his eyebrows trying to listen to what everyone was saying. When Aris mentioned pie offhandedly, his eyes suddenly lit up. "Pies!" he exclaimed. "Yes, Pies, pies! Any here?" he asked. already heading back towards the kitchen, leaving his lilacs and sandwich behind.

"Where are you pies?" He called out, searching the kitchen.

Genuine concern had washed over Martin's face, Lisa's questions only chilling his blood further. He was only able to breathe again once there was no sign of success.

"Aha...hahaha!" He stood tall, boasting mostly out of relief, "It would only be the badges anyway! I still did all that work, didn't I?!"

"Oh god the Cinnamon Challenge." Aris laughed. "I think I did that once. Holy shit that was the best thing ever. I couldn't breathe for at least fifteen seconds, it was bad in a good way. Toby... well I don't think I've seen another cinnamon bottle in the house afterwards."

She sniggered to herself.

She trailed after Dark. "Pie?" She called out, opening the refrigerator. Pies went there in her household, right?

Ruby blinked a couple times at Dark's sudden excitement before turning to Cobalt.

"He's the Su'er High School Le'el Assassin, right?" she asked, dumbfounded.

"At least that's something positive out of this, then!" she laughed. "Maybe we can ask at dinner about the rooms, then. I don't know how soon that is, but we'll probably meet the homeowner there- why else have it at a specific time?"

He stepped away from the door and raised his hands up in the air. "It's locked."

He noticed Martin's state of worry and frowned a bit. "Whoa, Martin, calm down! Even if it was unlocked, I don't think either of us were gonna take your badges away. Don't worry!"

Caleb grumbled and swore 19th century curses under his breath as he finally gave up with the damn thing. Stalking his way back down the hall, he made a sharp turn at the corner and continued walking towards the study.

"My, my~! What a pleasant surprise running into you three here!"

Cobalt nodded, his head following Dark as he ran off.

"Y-Yes! Super High School Level Assassin, Dark Nakhti! At least, that's what he told us." Again, he rested his hands on his hips, cocking his head to the side.

"Locked?" Jordan tilted her head, "Why lock a trophy room?" She seemed slightly disappointed, but she closed her eyes in thought, "Well, I was certainly right when I said it was intriguing. We'll just have to chose another place then."

Once more she lifted up her wrist, "Tea room? Theater?"

"Yeah, man I hope that's what your Super High School Level talent is. Dancing is the best skill, hands down." He gave a sideways look to Antoine. "Second to stand-up, that is."

"Anyway, this room is nice but there ain't much to look at. Should we be hitting the road?"

She snickered at Ruby's comment. "I've been thinking the same thing." she said, walking closer to them. "Are we really sure that guy actually, you know, kills people?" she snickered. "Little hard to believe."

She stood up and smiled. "Whatever! I'm not one to judge."

"Hmmm, the Tea Room sounds nice," Claire said. "You can lead the way, I'll just look stupid trying to open another locked door." Her awkward forced laugh came out again, and she looked down at her feet to try and ease the tension.

"Oh, yeah there's really nothing special in here! Well, unless you need time to kill, then you can dance!" Miranda laughed.

"So what time is it? If it's almost five maybe we should go to the dining room. Better early than late! I'm getting the vibe nobody wants to be late!"

Ruby nodded as she chewed more of her food.

"Wanna agree, but you ne'er know," she responded. "Good thing the po-po's here, just in case."

"Right," Martin said, a handy response to both Jason and Lisa, "We better get an explanation for this!"

A new voice met his ear, "Hello! Martin Janesh Crane," he re-introduced himself to Caleb now, standing even straighter than before. He out-stretched a hand. The rush of relief made him giddy.

Antoine let his hands rest at his sides again.

"Sounds like as good a plan as any," he sighed, smiling. He strode over to the door and opened it for Miranda, looking in at her.

Not being able to find pies anywhere else, Dark looked into the refrigerator from behind Aris. On a higher shelf were some of what looked like large pies wrapped in tin foil.

"There are!" he shouted, then shoved at Aris to push her out of the way. His arms were outstretched towards the refrigerator shelf. "I love pie!"

"Caleb Canterbury," he replied with a smile, firmly shaking the scout's hand. "I seem to have run into some trouble with my dormitory. You see, I am unable to open it! I was wondering if any of you could provide me with some assistance."
